Day 9: Nanchang: Passport has arrived!

The reason we are in Nanchang so many days is that we have to wait for Tam's Chinese passport, which we got today!  Saved a little money too because we thought we would have to pay the passport expedite fee but they cut us a break and we did not have to pay that.  When we go to our next stop, Guangzhou, we will get her visa, and she will be able to come home with us.  Yay!

Tam says "Yay!  I get to go home!!!"

We got some exciting news this morning during our Skype call that another new addition to the family is on her way, as Tam's cousin and his wife are expecting their first baby and labor has begun!  The baby is also a little girl and they live about 30 minutes from us, so another playmate in the family for Tam!

Tam says "Can't wait to meet baby Isabelle!"

Evelyn took care of the passport for us this morning, so we had a leisurely breakfast, played with Tam, and took a walk on the grounds of what appears to be a condo complex next to the hotel.

When Evelyn came back with the passport, we headed into town for some porcelain shopping.  Nanchang is known for its porcelain.  Back in Beijing, George explained to us that the characters used to be read the other direction, so the name of this town was Chang Nan...which sounds like "china" and thus the word we use for our fine dishes.  Evelyn told us about the different types of porcelain.  There is a street not far from the Walmart where there is just store after store selling porcelain products.  Not sure Tam appreciated the porcelain because this is what she did for about 15 minutes in one shop:

We headed to the Walmart afterwards for some baby wipes and snack foods.  Some shots from the area.

The Walmart was insanely crowded today so we got in and got out and headed back to the hotel.  More playtime with Tam!  Today was a series of short naps and the first time Tamasyn was grumpy at bedtime and took a bit of effort to get to sleep - first tooth cutting through, perhaps?

Intently trying to imitate Daddy's goofy noises

"What the heck?"

"Goofball!"
