Day 6: Nanchang: Bayi park, Youmin Buddhist temple, room service (4/10/12)

Today was a bit of touring and more playing with Tamasyn.  She slept great last night, waking after about 7 hours straight, eating a bit, and then going back to sleep for a couple more hours.

2:30 a.m. meal!

After the hotel breakfast, we met Evelyn at 9 a.m.  We've been using Skype to call home every day to talk to big brother and auntie, and Tamasyn fell asleep during the call just before we were to meet Evelyn.  She took us to a wonderful park in the city.  It isn't a huge park but it was bustling with activity with people everywhere you turned doing tai chi, kung fu, ballroom dancing, playing badminton, practicing calligraphy, or just strolling along.  There is a man made lake and quite a variety of plant life.

When we are out and about, local ladies like to stop and chat about Tamasyn...why do the foreigners carry the Chinese baby?  Is she a foreign baby?  How old is she?  Why do they want to adopt Chinese? etc., etc.  Evelyn translates some of it but mostly handles the conversations and the ladies smile and nod a lot at us.  Many people have spoken directly to hubs and are puzzled when he does not understand them.  Evelyn told us he is lucky because other adoptive parents who are of Chinese ancestry but do not speak the language have sometimes been chastised a bit....everyone has been nice to us so far.

More plant life pics.

Directly across from the park is a Buddhist temple that is about 1200 years old.  Evelyn was a wealth of information about Buddhism and the history of this temple.  We wandered through the courtyards and buildings while she shared the stories.

Must end the blog post with cuteness.  She does have other expressions but these are the ones that we get with the camera flash!

Tam napped while we were out and about and then again in the late afternoon.  We finally ate dinner in China.  We were not sure how long she would sleep so we ended up ordering hotel room service.  It was pretty pricey so we went with one of the cheaper options on the menu - beef burgers.  Decent, but we should have chosen something from the Chinese fare I think.
