Final Travel Packet!

With a week left before our departure, we just got a detailed itinerary from our agency with the list of hotels and activities for each day.  The hotels all look very nice and a bit more posh than what we typically choose on our own when vacationing.

In Beijing, we will be at the Qianmen Jianguo Hotel.  In Nanchang, it will be the Crowne Plaza Riverside Hotel.  In Guangzhou, we will be at the China Hotel.  We already booked the hotel ourselves for Hong Kong...we won't have much time there, so we just picked one of the airport hotels as it will mainly be a convenient bed for the night before heading to the airport in the morning.

We will have a chance to visit Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Hutong Tour, and possibly an acrobatics show as well as the Great Wall while in Beijing.  After that, it is all about Tamasyn and if we sneak in a city tour or some shopping in the other places we are visiting, that will just be a bonus!

We have a conference call with our agency today regarding these final travel details.

  1. Hey, my husband just reminded me that, while in China, you will probably be unable to reach blogspot. Com or blogger. Com. You'll need to set up the special email address that you can send posts to that will automatically dump it to the blog. Do this before you go. Log in, go to Settings, click on email&mobile, under posting options you can set up an email posting address. Click on "publish immediately ". You can send text nd photos up to 10MB. Also, you may want to set up a family member with your blogspot password in case you need them to manage the blog for you.

  2. Thanks Teri...current advice is to go with a VPN service to access blogspot, Facebook, etc. That is what we are planning to do but will be setting up the e-mail method as a backup.

  3. Yep forgot to mention that too. Also, don't miss any chance to see your daughter's hometown even if it inconvenient. Pace of change so great in China, it won't be the same city when/if you come back next. Caretakers, finding spot, could be totally gone. So excited for you guys!!

    1. We'll have to see if that is possible. So far, we have heard we will not be traveling to the town of the orphanage as it is 4-5 hours away. I'm guessing the guide will be discouraging that trip.
